A New Beginning in the Big Easy
In 2024, we acquired our first safe home in New Orleans, marking a historic milestone as our first direct expansion outside of California and the Sisterhood Alliance for Freedom and Equality (SAFE) Housing Network. The eight-bedroom home, generously donated by the Daughters of Charity, offers more than shelter; it offers women a second chance at life. Like ANWOL’s California homes, the New Orleans safe home offers wraparound services including recovery support, workforce development, legal aid, and leadership development. With a bold vision and strong community partnerships, ANWOL-NOLA is already planting the seeds for long-term impact, proving that healing and hope can take root anywhere.

This new safe home represents a commitment to bringing proven reentry support to communities where the need is urgent and growing. ANWOL-NOLA is designed to address these gaps by providing a safe, supportive environment and access to services that promote stability, healing, and long-term success. Through a holistic approach, we help women reconnect with their communities and move forward with confidence.

Our SAFE home is located in Uptown New Orleans and provides safe housing for women returning from incarceration. At this home, we create a supportive community of women that are not defined by their past and look forward to making a better future.
