- Program: Safe Healing Center (SHC) / DYD-Regulated Program
- Position: Cook – SAFE Healing Center
- Location: Los Angeles, CA
- Reports To: Program Manager
- Status: Full-Time (30 hours/week)

Pay Range: $19–21/hour, based upon experience.
(This position is part of our future hiring plan, with openings expected to begin in late May or early June 2026)
General Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all activities related to menu and meal planning, procurement of food and supplies inventory.
- Responsible for the care and storage of food items and supplies.
- Prepare meals for residents and maintain cleanliness of the kitchen.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- * Menu and meal planning under the general direction of dietary consultants and program administration.
- * Preparation of at least two meals daily.
- * Purchase or procurement of groceries, foodstuffs, and supplies.
- * Maintain adequate quantities of food and supplies and oversee proper storage.
- * Efficient utilization of resources, materials, office supplies, and equipment allocated for program use.
- * Present a professional and caring image for the program at all times.
- * Maintain a cooperative relationship with other program staff.
- * Demonstrate tact, courtesy, and respect in communication with residents, visitors, staff, and outside agencies.
- * Attend staff meetings and other assigned events.
- * Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- * Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- * High school diploma or equivalent.
- * Valid California Driver’s License, reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance coverage.
- * Previous cooking experience in a residential or community setting preferred.
- * Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
- * Ability to stand for extended periods.
- * Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- * Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- * Good oral and written communication skills.
- * High level of personal integrity.
- * Ability to maintain professional boundaries.
Preferred Qualifications:
- * Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- * Experience working in trauma-informed, youth-serving, or residential programs.
- * Cultural competency and experience preparing diverse cuisines.
