Community Organizing Fellow
A New Way of Life is seeking a formerly incarcerated, or systems impacted individual, to join our office for an intensive year-long fellowship program. The individual will have the chance to learn about grassroots organizing, legislative and administrative advocacy, and other strategies to run local and statewide campaigns. The goal of the fellowship is to elevate the leadership of formerly incarcerated people in advocating for criminal justice reform.
The Staff Attorney works in the Legal Department of ANWOL with the goal of reducing the legal burdens placed on formerly incarcerated people as well as lowering the barriers to employment faced by formerly incarcerated people. The available position will specifically focus on the Re-entry Legal Clinic, the largest reentry clinic in Los Angeles County, and individual representation of clients
The Development Strategist works collaboratively with ANWOL staff to ensure adequate resources for the organization and compliance with grant and contractual requirements. Key functions include assistance with grant writing, identifying and responding to upcoming service contract opportunities, data/contract/grant tracking, reporting and compliance.
Senior Family Reunification Attorney
The Senior Family Reunification Attorney will supervise the Family Reunification Department of A New Way of Life Reentry Project (ANWOL), which helps reunite formerly incarcerated parents with their children by providing direct representation in California’s family courts and probate courts, as well as providing “support person” advocacy in dependency court proceedings and support letters or advocacy at criminal court hearings for parents with outstanding charges. In addition, the Attorney may contribute to civil rights impact litigation, family reunification local, state, and federal policy work, and family reunification legal clinics planned to occur in prisons in Los Angeles County.
Clinical Social Worker
The Clinical Social Worker (Clinician) possesses and implements the generic knowledge and educational background applicable to working with formerly incarcerated individuals, groups, families, other disciplines and community services within and outside A New Way of Life Reentry Project (ANWOL). The Clinician works with all appropriate systems on behalf of the client, and will visit all of the reentry facilities. The Clinician will provide a model of social service delivery that includes counseling and case management services.
